Artist Guidelines

Find everything you need to apply for Art in the Pass! This page includes details on application requirements, artist categories, fees, deadlines, booth guidelines, and important festival policies to help you prepare for a successful exhibition.

Artists may apply in multiple categories but must submit a separate application form, jury fee, and images for each medium. The booth image may be repeated across applications. If accepted in only one category, artists are permitted to exhibit work exclusively in that medium.

  • CERAMICS & POTTERY

    Original clay and porcelain work other than jewelry. No machine made or mass- produced work is accepted. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed, each must be signed.

  • DRAWING

    Pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastels, pen & ink, etc.

  • FIBER

    Work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry and papermaking. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production accepted. No factory-produced wearable items may be exhibited, regardless of additional modification or enhancement by the artist.

  • GLASS

    No molds or other forms of mass production allowed.

  • JEWELRY

    No commercial casts, molds, or production studio work. All jewelry, regardless of medium, must be entered in this category.

  • METALWORK

    Non-sculptural, non-jewelry works crafted from metal.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY

    Prints made from artist’s original image must be processed by the artist or under artist’s supervision. Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing processes.

Art by …

  • 2D MIXED MEDIA

    Incorporates more than one type of material, with a relief depth of less than 1/8 inch.

  • 3D MIXED MEDIA

    Non-sculptural work incorporating more than one type of material. This category is for objects that are “decorative” rather than “useful.”

  • PAINTING

    Oil, acrylic, etc.

  • PRINTMAKING & DIGITAL ART

    Artist created prints, serigraphs, digital art, etc., properly signed and numbered, in limited editions, on archival quality materials. Images of Giclées may not be submitted to the Jury (but may be sold if less than 50% of your exhibit and signed/numbered). Digital Art is original work that is executed by the artist using a computer.

  • SCULPTURE

    3-dimensional original work done in any medium, as determined by the artist.

  • WATERCOLOR

    Layered and pigmented water-based media including gouache, tempera and transparent watercolors applied to archival acid-free stock or handmade papers.

  • WOODWORK

    Original hand-tooled, machine worked, turned or carved work.

Booth Information


Artists will be provided a 10×10 exhibit space along with a 4 ft. perimeter at the rear of the space. All work must be limited to this space. Artist is responsible for providing tent, preferably white, and any other items required for displaying their work.

Rules & Regulations


  • An accepted application is a commitment to the show. No refunds will be made for cancellation, inclement weather, illness, or any other reason. NO EXCEPTIONS.– Only one artist may show per booth
  • All artists must show for the full two days of the festival. Artists are required to staff their exhibits during festival hours.
  • Our primary concern is the creative vision of the applicant and the quality of the work. Although Art in the Pass discourages reproductions artists may sell them as long as those reproductions are matted, signed and numbered works of limited editions of 250 or less. Unframed, matted works may only be shown in a flip bin and the bin must be clearly marked “Reproductions”.
  • Original paintings must represent at least 50% percent of the total dollar ($) value of items for sale in the artist’s booth.
  • Reproductions may occupy no more than 50% percent of the total dollar value of items for sale in the artist’s booth.
  • Digital Artists and Photographers may only sell signed and numbered works of limited editions of 250 or less
  • Only original, framed artwork may be hung on the walls of the artist’s booth. Excludes artwork such as galley wrapped canvases or artwork not requiring a frame.
  • All original two dimensional work (e.g., photography, painting, watercolors, graphics, pastels, prints and drawings) must be appropriately framed or glazed.
  • Absolutely no buy-sell merchandise will be allowed to include coffee cups, T-shirts, or other items mass produced from an original piece of artwork, including an artist’s original design that has been transferred to such merchandise.
  • All items must be hand-crafted by the applicant. No mass reproduction in combination with original hand-crafted work is permitted. All items must be made by the artist. Commercially manufactured items, commercial molds, patterns, kits are not acceptable.
  • The Art in the Pass Committee reserves the right to review and approve all works exhibited.
  • Images submitted for jurying by the accepted artists will remain the property of Art in the Pass and may be used for publicity and affirmation purposes during and after the festival.

Festival Details


CASH AWARDS

Art in the Pass is awarding cash prizes this year to categories with 10 or more artists exhibiting and Best in Show. The categories awarded typically include Jewelry, Painting, Photography, Pottery, Sculpture, Other and Best in Show.
The awards are as follows:
$500 Best in Show
$200 Best in each Category

SILENT AUCTION

This year we will not hold a Silent Auction.

STUDENT ART SHOW

The annual Art in the Pass Student Art Show will be held on the Sunday, of the Festival i.e. 7th April 2024. Students from 14 area high schools and the home schooled will show their works and compete for cash prizes and ribbons. Instructions are mailed to area art teachers in January.

FESTIVAL T-SHIRTS

T-shirts will be sold in the Silent Auction tent. T-shirts are $20 for S,M,L and X sizes and $25 for XXL. Each artist will receive one (1) free T-shirt. Extra T-shirt’s may be purchased at the festival. Hats, visors, and long-sleeved T-shirts are also available.

CELEBRATE THE GULF

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will host ‘Celebrate the Gulf’ in the park on the Saturday of Art in the Pass.

ARTIST HOSPITALITY

Artists may visit the Registration Tent on Friday from 1 – 5 pm for water and the Coca-Cola Trailer on Saturday and Sunday from 7–9 am for water. Roving golf carts will bring coffee and muffins to artists on Saturday and Sunday mornings
