Flowers have been used for centuries in literature. Shakespeare used flowers (and their meanings) over 200 times in his plays. This presentation will focus on Shakespeare's plays and especially the flowers that he mentions in "Romeo and Juliet" as well as "Hamlet". Dr. Gaye Winter teaches English at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Her "Shakespeare's Flowers" Presentation won the Mississippi Humanities Council Award in 2020 This program is free and everyone is welcome to attend. The Pawrade will include small floats that are for the Krewe Royalty; Celebrity Grand Marshal; people walking with their pets in decorated strollers or wagons, or in costumes for a small fee; and a section for decorated golf carts. There will also be a Memorial banner honoring our friends who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. This community event benefits Animal A.I.D of MS and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School as the designated beneficiaries of any funds raised. The parade begins at the Pavilion at Davis Avenue and 2nd Street. It proceeds south to Scenic Drive and then west on Scenic Drive to Bacchus on the Beach (111 W.
