Join us onThursday, September 14th for “Pedal in the Pass” monthly bicycledinner ride which takes place on the 2nd Thursday from March throughOctober. We meet near Scenic Drive in WarMemorial Park in Pass Christian and the ride starts at 6 pm. Enjoy an easy, no drop bicycle ride through downtown Pass Christian. Riders are welcome to join the group for an optional dinnerto follow at one of our downtown restaurants (dutch treat). Everyone is welcome. Bikes and helmets are required. Weather permitting. Pass Christian Library is happy to announce our Fall Season of the popular Sit, Stay, READ! Children’s Reading sponsored by the Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi. Our first session is Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10 am to 12 pm. The Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi provides a fun way for children to improve their communication and reading skills while visiting with a four-legged friend. The dog-friendly atmosphere provides great motivation for the children to practice their reading. Reading sessions usually last for 30 minutes. Children are rewarded with bookmarks, stickers, or pencils for participating. The program is free. Children must not be afraid of or allergic to animals. There is no need to preregister. Please mark your calendars for all the Fall sessions: September 16, October 21, November 18, and December 16, 2023. Join us for Butterflies in the Pass MonarchFestival on Saturday, September 30th from 10am-1pm in War Memorial Park in PassChristian. The festival will be locatednear the gazebo and the Billy Bourdin Butterfly Garden and Monarch Way Stationinside War Memorial Park. This event will feature speakers, educational exhibits, hands on activities forall ages and a walking parade for anyone in butterfly regalia (includingpets). The goal of the festival isto celebrate and educate our community about Monarch butterflies and otherpollinators and what we can do to help them thrive.
For 2023, we are excited to announce thatbeloved Mexican artist Carmen Parra will be the “Godmother of theFestival”. Ms. Parra is known for herpaintings of butterflies. She alsorepresents Mexico-which is where our Monarchs migrate to in the winter. Come and meet this wonderful artist at thefestival! She will be painting with children at the festival.
